"Casino Royale: Derivatives and the Financial Meltdown" written by Jack McMullen is a wonderfully simplified portrayal of the complications brought on from the Credit Default Swaps, over-leveraged banks and derivatives. This is a great read for anyone looking to better understand where the current financial problems started, and why they dominoed out of control. Thankfully, Vermont banking institutions didn't get directly involved in the the swaps, which is part of the reason our banks are still in such strong financial standing.
